Known for its wide open pace and rare-for-capitol-forest examples of proper rocks and root technical sections trail 30 (Now known by the numerical moniker "Twin Peaks Trail") has long been a feature of most mountain bike and moto events since its inception. Last year it was time to pay the piper and we watched as the logging trucks and equipment came through and turned much of our trail into barely recognizable clear cut. While it was a loss, it also presents us with opportunity to make adjustments and reroutes to help preserve the long term integrity of the trail, while maintaining the wide open technical flow that trail 30 is known for. This weekend Joyride was on hand with FOCF, DNR and the Tacoma Trail Cruisers to help plan the reroute and construct the the new sections of Trail #30 that will bypass the logged section of trail and add some much needed change of perspective on what trails in Capitol Forest can be. This a great opportunity for the local user groups to come together and collaborate on a project that everyone will enjoy, as well as show DNR that we have the skill and experience to design fast, technical, and sustainable trails. Joy Ride Bicycles will be hosting a work party in the near future to tackle one of the five stages of the proposed re-route, specifically a new section of trail that will bypass a road crossing and eliminate much of the flat traversing that the used to end with.
