Mountain Bike
The Party in the Woods is closed for the season, but don't let that stop you from partying on your own, or check out our Gravel Rides.
The Tuesday Night Mountain Bike Ride and the Party in the Woods concludes the week of August 27th. Join us for the last blast of the season! We are still going to be starting at the Y, otherwise known as the intersection of Sherman Valley Road and Waddell Creek Road. You'll know it when you see it and there'll be some cars there to rally around. Ride starts with introductions and route at 6 pm, and rubber hits the dirt by 6:05ish. Our start location will let us hit some of the cool moto trails the Capitol Forest has to offer. Waddell Basin West, Divide South, Twin Peaks, and the list goes on. It's that time of the year where these trails become super fun on the MTB and allow us to tie together all sorts of fun routes when the soil composition changes (in other words...dries out).
Just as last year, these rides are, and forever will be, all levels. This year, instead of keeping everyone together like we have done in the past, we’re going to give our riders a little more freedom. The main group will still be a no drop, all levels, all pace ride, that will offer some skill work, and at least one shop lead there to keep direction and help deal with any mechanicals. If you are a first time mountain biker, trying to get back in shape, or just want to spin the legs after work, this is the group for you. There will also be an option for riders to lead out the main group and join a more loosely organized, fast paced, drop ride, out the front. So if you’re trying to get an extra burn in, and have the ability to self navigate Capitol Forest, and still want to join us for the post ride beers and brauts, or whiskey and weiners, or even Hamms and hams (Pork and pints?), then this is probably the group for you! Whether you’re a first time mountain biker or a cognoscente of the cog, there is a place for you on the Joy Ride Rides. |
What should I bring? These rides are under 2 hours, so if you come grossly unprepared, you might still be ok, but coming prepared, in our experience, lends for a more Joyful Ride... Clothing -Helmet -Raincoat -Comfortable riding clothes -Gloves Gear -Spare tube -CO2 -Tire Levers -Patch Kit -Multitool Nourishment -1-2 Bars (Pro Bar, Hammer Bar...) -2 Bottles of H2O (One supplemented with Electrolytes) -Trail Beer?
