Super Bowl Sunday is coming up, so what does that mean? It is time for another Gravelpalooza! This Sunday Feburary 13th we are rolling from Mima Trailhead at 9 am. We'll meet a few minutes before the ride to talk about the route overall and then head out.
We did our best to work with DNR to put together a route with a route shaped like a heart. The route file is a bit over 24 miles, but it does not include to ride to and from the route which will add a bit under 9 miles and 600 ft of climbing, but to keep it heart-shaped we had to map it this way. So if you want to keep us honest, the total ride will be about 33 miles and 3700 ft or so of climbing. Of course this all hinges on everyone not missing a turn, which can sometimes happen when you are screaming downhill and having a blast. But no one has ever been left behind on a Gravelpalooza and we are not about to change that.
This is a no drop ride, but we do expect you bring your climbing legs and forest attitude and fitness. The Capitol Forest does not give its views away for free. You need to work for them, but the reward is always oh so worth it.
Feel free to let us know if have questions.
(Minimum recommended tire size is 40 mm. Anything less and you just might not be having as good a time as you could. Could you run skinnier, sure? But do you really want to?
