KONA PROCESS 153 DL 29" REVIEW

We are always excited when Pinkbike reviews bikes we have put our customers on and can try and get in this age of bikes and parts availability.  But in any case, here are a few thoughts they had to share:

"The new Process is a “perfect balance of descending prowess and climbing efficiency,” according to Kona at least. However, they’re not far off. It does offer a well rounded character that will suit many people who ride tech, steep or fast trails, even if they have no want or need of a big enduro bike. It’s funny, the Process 153 was the enduro bike of the range, and if you had told me then that a bike with that amount of travel paired to a 160mm fork wasn’t enduro I would have chucked my race-legal pre-workout drink right in your face, but I think the times are changing slightly. Maybe that’s best represented with the Process X’s place in Kona’s range.

Truthfully, the Process 153 isn’t what an enduro bike is in 2022, and I feel its definition has shifted slightly. There are plenty of enduro bikes that are 35 or 36 lbs plus, with head angles nearing 63-degrees and equipped with one of the new wave of big, burly and stiff forks. The Process is an all-round bike - it just so happens the definition of enduro has in some ways changed."

And if you want to check out all the possible Process builds visit the Kona website and then contact us to see if we can score one of these rides for you.  We even have a few Process 134's in stock now!

We could not be more thrilled for Norco's Range getting the Pinkbike Mountain Bike of the Year award.  It's a bike that we have tested out and sold to some lucky customers this year.

Here are a few words Pinkbike had to share about their overall evaluation and review:

"At the end of the day, it’s the Range’s downhill performance that gave it the edge over this year’s Mountain Bike of the Year contenders. We all ride for different reasons, but there’s no denying that going downhill as fast as possible is one of the best aspects of mountain biking. The Norco Range doesn’t seem to have a speed limit, a key factor that led to the decision to award it the 2021 Mountain Bike of the Year title."

Things are heating up this summer and we don't just mean the weather.  A year ago, Shimano released XTR with 1x12 and now the benefits of that new tech and testing is trickling down to the rest of Shimano's MTB Line.  Deore XT is now available and we have a groupset at the shop for you to check out or purchase if you so desire.  A cassette that goes up to 51 teeth, four piston caliper brakes, the list goes on and on.  When Shimano does something new, they take the time to test it and vet it.

For all the details of what is included in this great new line up, check out the link below:

45NRTH  Ragnarök Boots (for 2 Hole Mountain Bike Compatible Cleat Systems)

10/30/2018

We all know once the summer season ends in the Pacific Northwest, it is time for us to do our best to keep ourselves warm when the weather gets wet.  Seems like one of the hardest things to prevent is water in your shoes, even with shoe covers.  It can make ride super unpleasant.

Well, that where the 45NRTH Ragnarök Boots can help.  They do have a high level of water resistance and breathability, but when coupling the hook-and-loop neoprene ankle closure with something like gators or bib tights with the lower leg opening over the closure, water seeping into your shoe can really be reduced and your feet can remain warmer a lot longer.  It will not stop water intrusion altogether, but it is a big leap forward.  The shoes only come in full sizes so if you are a half size like me, you need to try both the lower and upper size on, but keep in mind, you will likely be wearing a warmer sock.  Remember, we are talking fall and winter time here.  The BOA closure system helps keep the fit right easily.  I have been able to make quick and easy adjustments to alter snugness and the system helps with getting the shoes off once you are done too.

There are a couple of other cool features.  Add one more reflective item to your arsenal.  Light hits the reflective version of the boot and bounces right back.  It really helps with visibility in low light and no-light conditions which I tend to find myself in a lot.  (There is a non-reflective option available.)  The other cool thing is the antislip microglass rubber compound used for the sole of the shoe.  It really does help with grip.  I have walked on a lot of surfaces and logs in wet conditions with these shoes and have not been worried about slipping.  That is a big plus.
