We all know once the summer season ends in the Pacific Northwest, it is time for us to do our best to keep ourselves warm when the weather gets wet.  Seems like one of the hardest things to prevent is water in your shoes, even with shoe covers.  It can make ride super unpleasant.

Well, that where the 45NRTH Ragnarök Boots can help.  They do have a high level of water resistance and breathability, but when coupling the hook-and-loop neoprene ankle closure with something like gators or bib tights with the lower leg opening over the closure, water seeping into your shoe can really be reduced and your feet can remain warmer a lot longer.  It will not stop water intrusion altogether, but it is a big leap forward.  The shoes only come in full sizes so if you are a half size like me, you need to try both the lower and upper size on, but keep in mind, you will likely be wearing a warmer sock.  Remember, we are talking fall and winter time here.  The BOA closure system helps keep the fit right easily.  I have been able to make quick and easy adjustments to alter snugness and the system helps with getting the shoes off once you are done too.

There are a couple of other cool features.  Add one more reflective item to your arsenal.  Light hits the reflective version of the boot and bounces right back.  It really helps with visibility in low light and no-light conditions which I tend to find myself in a lot.  (There is a non-reflective option available.)  The other cool thing is the antislip microglass rubber compound used for the sole of the shoe.  It really does help with grip.  I have walked on a lot of surfaces and logs in wet conditions with these shoes and have not been worried about slipping.  That is a big plus.
